June has been a most beautiful month here in the Methow Valley of Washington State. Warm days, cool nights, green all around, garden is growing nicely, raspberries are ready to eat as are strawberries (if I get there before the Robins do) and it is just plain nice to have my meals outdoors. Hope you are all enjoying each glorious day that we are blessed with.
Work is still consuming the majority of my waking day, and that is a good thing for me. Besides work I am still answering many emails, continuing the work in Uganda with the students who are excelling in their studies, the water project and much more.
There is so much need in the world for people to devote their extra time and money to - poverty abounds, disease is rampant, and education is lacking. I believe that education is the way out of poverty; that money spent on education is far more reaching towards peace then the wars we create in the name of God and Democracy and Freedom. A great book that I recommend is called - Three Cups of Tea - by Greg Mortenson. Reading this (a book one cannot put down until finished) confirms that peace through education and helping others is a true happening. War creates more hatred, more dissent and more war.
My funds are limited, and exhausted, so we are in the process of forming a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation for the sole purpose of providing aid to those in poverty, without education, with no clothing, food, or means to obtain any of these. The name we have chosen thus far is "Compassion-Care" Foundation that will also have it's own web site under " compassion-care.org ". So far eight (8) wonderful, caring, generous people have agreed to sit on the board of Directors, and already we are seeing that numerous people want to be involved. They also care about and want to help other people, but do not know how to do this, or whom to trust.
One of the projects will be a FREE School - located in a remote area of Uganda. This is an area with several villages where people have - nothing!! No clothing, little food, no chance for jobs, and are just surviving. They realize that the only way for their families to get out of poverty is through education, learning to read and write, do math and etc. But, they have no means to send the children to any school, nor do they have transportation to get them there other then walking (without shoes!!!). This FREE School will provide the basic education needed to help lift their spirits, and hopefully, gain employment. Some jobs will be created by this new school - teachers, a cook, garden tenders (we plan on a garden to raise our own food for one school meal a day). We will use the local villagers to construct a simple building to be used as the school. That is a few jobs, some with little pay, some of the work they will donate toward the education of their families.
MS Focus magazine asked me to write an article, which they have printed in their spring edition of the MSFocus magazine. If you did not get a copy, here is a link to a pdf copy of it that I scanned in from the magazine:
MS Focus - Men & MS - I hope you enjoy reading it.
As for my own MS Challenge - I am now on an herbal/supplement regimen that I wrote about back on June 9th
so far I am seeing a great increase in energy and a staying power. By that I mean I am getting up at 5:30 am and going to bed at 11 pm most days, and have energy enough for the entire day.
Still doing my daily exercise routine that takes about 40 minutes, eating healthy foods, keeping weight down, no junk foods, no sodas, sugar and such.
More and more happening in the world of stem cells, research for other alternative treatments and I believe that very soon, we will be able to share in many improvements that just a short time ago would not have been possible. Keep positive, hangeth in there, good things are coming.
and of course, my book - below.....
Challenging The Dragon my book on my own life "challenge" – namely "M.S."
Blessings always, and best wishes for a healthy life to all,
Have a Prosperous and healthy Year, take time to have your own adventure, and enjoy each day we are alive, to the fullest, no matter what.
