Winter in the Pacific Northwest has not finished with us yet, for it is snowing this morning as I write this update. Weather patterns across the world have been changing these past few years, and the world is experiencing horrific storms. Much as I have grown to enjoy warmer weather, I still must admit that living in the Methow Valley remains peaceful, beautiful and serene.
The past four (4) months since the genetically engineered human umbilical cord stem cell treatment on October 25th, 2006, have yielded some favorable improvements for this old body. To list some of these -
Definite slow down of the rapid, progressive, decline from my progressive M.S.
Speech - stronger and more clear, easier to get words out
Stamina - has increased overall
Exercise routine - this one I am enjoying - over 100 per cent increase in all repetitions, i.e.,:
- sit-ups were 10-15, now at 50
- push-ups were 10-15, now at 35
- touch toes - none before, now 20
- isometric exercises - all over 100% increase in repetitions
Walking - mornings now find me walking about 100 steps without any supports
Sleeping - from 11 pm until 6 am - straight through, feel rested upon waking
Work - still putting in my 10 hour days at the internet business, plus emails with other MS people, and helping fight poverty in Uganda, aiding 5 students, a small college, and more.
Am I happy? YES, I certainly am. Even though the improvements are slight, they are definite improvements, and are most welcomed.
My thoughts on stem cells, and their use as a healing method: I believe there is much hope and possibilities in this field. With time and more dollars for research, who knows the improvements that will come about. The fore seeable future, to me, holds so much promise. As for stem cell treatment for multiple sclerosis, again, each of us is different and we will each see different results. Much depends on our own attitudes towards improving, exercise, diet, love given to us, and love given to others - all of these play a role in our individual lifes and health.
As for the particular treatment that I had on October 25th, I tend to believe that if I could receive twenty (20) times the amount of stem cells, that this body would improve immensely. Let me explain that just a wee bit - most research and testing is done on lab rats, small little bodies compared to the human body. Total improvement has been shown in rats who have been treated with genetically engineered stem cells, yet the same is not true in humans. Why? Well, a dose in a small little rat has great effect, yet that same dosage in a human is miniscule, resulting in slight improvements. So, if we were able to afford receiving one hundred and twenty million stem cells instead of 5.5 million - what a tremendous difference that would make. However, how many of us could afford a $400,000.00 treatment? Certainly not this writer!!!
Closing note: I believe the treatment received this past October, has not only given me some improvements thus far, but also given me more time to see better treatments coming forth in the near future. I will be alive and in better condition to then receive another, new treatment, which could result in even better, larger improvement results.
BEWARE: of scam artists that proliferate every aspect of life, parasites feeding on those of us who desire better health and are easy prey and willing participants. We each must do our own research and believe and trust those we put the health of our bodies in. I believe, totally, that I have found those I can trust. There is much hype on the internet about "sure cure" treatments that are nothing more then scams. We have all seen them, and yet many of us are willing to spend our hard earned dollars with them because we believe these "advertising methods".
Once Again, in closing, here’s a shameless plug for 2 guys who spend all their time trying to help improve the lot of others:
Dr. Anthony G. Payne and Larry M. Howard have coauthored a just released book that I would recommend to all, with or without multiple sclerosis, and especially women concerned about osteoporosis: "Health Benefits of Vitamin K2", ISBN # 978-1-59120-184-7. It is available at www.basichealthpub.com, Basic Health Publications, Inc. and also from Larry Howard’s company, Weller Health Vitamins www.wellerhealthvitamins.com It is also being sold through Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, WalMart, Swanson Health Products and a host of others. It is actually the only book on K2 for laypeople on the market! And at $9.95 retail – packed as it is with all kinds of dietary and health goodies -- it’s a bargain.
and of course, my book - below.....
Challenging The Dragon my book on my own life "challenge" – namely "M.S."
Blessings always, and best wishes for a healthy life to all,
Have a Prosperous and healthy Year, take time to have your own adventure, and enjoy each day we are alive, to the fullest, no matter what.
