It has been a most busy and beautiful time lately, what with warmer weather, snow melted and grass turning green. Time to put away
the winter shovels and de-icers and bring out the yard and garden tools, picnic table and lawn chairs and spruce up the
yard and home areas.
That is what I have been up to and kind of took a reprieve from multi-tasking in the cyber-world for a spell. Did get part of a
garden planted and some of it is up already, planted some blueberry bushes, plus blackberry and raspberry plants. And put in some
summer squash, garlic, lettuce, beets, leeks and basil. Will put in some radishes and then watch it grow followed by enjoying
"fresh from the garden" meals this summer.
I was invited to give a talk at a National M.S. group's meeting a week ago. This was planned some 3 months prior and it went very
well. There was much sharing and discussion on various topics including: M.S. itself and how unique each of us is with our own
challenges; different drugs, trials and experimental ideas including the German CalciumEAP, and the new umbilical cord stem
cell treatments and of course, my own trial and what is happening; diet, and how important that is to our well being; my
flying days, skydiving and my main and most important aspect of life, Spirituality.
They must have enjoyed, for they kept me there for two and one half hours, invited me back again and also for their annual
picnic. I came away totally blessed and happy that I made this choice to meet with them. As you know, life with this "challenge" can
make simple tasks - difficult, but with a little push, I find myself rewarded immensely for the output of energy.
Stem cell trial improvements - so far they are minimal, but there have been slight improvements. Any improvement is a huge
plus in my book. Yes, I know, I want to have these symptoms totally reversed - NOW - but at the same time, I am thoroughly
happy with any improvement, with no more continued going backwards as before the stem cell treatment. And, I still expect
much more improvement. Always the eternal optimist I will stay positive, continue with proper diet, exercise, vitamins and
supplements and have faith in the entire process. As my friend and I discussed earlier in our life, when we were both athletic
and full of piss and vinegar, we have a choice each morning - to have a good day or a bad day; and we both choose to have
good days, for they are so much more fun. He went through cancer and had one lung removed, then they found it in his brain
and he had brain surgery. Through it all he was my inspiration for he kept making that choice every day - to have a good day -
and today he is healthy, active and enjoying each day, one day at a time.
Improvements to be noted, balance gets better and feels much better; toes and skin continue to look and feel better; walking,
although with a cane, is some better and I need to do more of it; speech continues to vary, but overall is stronger and people
understand me. New medications that were to enhance the stem cells, found my body very sensitive and perhaps even allergic
for I became sick from the first one, took couple weeks to recover, then tried the next one and that also made me extremely
sick and have just recovered from that session. At least for my body and situation, these medications were not for me and others
have had no ill effects. However, this being down will not slow my urge to keep searching and trying everything possible to
keep improvements going.
Until next time...
Peace, Joy, Love, Compassion Jim
