hUCSC Stem Cell
Experiment

December 13, 2006

As you read on November 6th update, this is the waiting period, to see what changes this body will experience from the treatment received October 25th in Mexico.

In the meantime, being true to my adventurous nature, and perhaps also a lack of fear (or at least not giving in to any fear, but facing it head on), I am heading to London, England for the Christmas Holidays. I leave from Seattle on the 21st of December and arrive at Heathrow Airport right after lunch on the 22nd. I will meet my friend from Uganda at the airport where we will take a rental auto (yes, I am driving on the left side of the road while sitting in the right seat of the auto) and drive to Windsor and Eton area where we have a rental apartment for 8 nights.

As most of you with progressive MS know, and who also use a wheelchair 90% of the time, and cannot talk very well, this will be a true adventure, albeit with much difficulty. Thoughts going through my mind each day and, especially at night, are -
  • how will I get from the customs office to the car rental?
  • how will I find my friend who arrives by train from southern area of London?
  • what will my friend think of this worn out old body?
  • how will shopping for groceries and supplies go?
  • finding a church for Christmas Services?
  • will driving be more difficult then in the USA?
  • is leaving the comfort of home and knowing how to get around right?
  • and a myriad of other thoughts - enough to scare the "heck" out of a guy
However, the trip is planned, tickets bought and paid for, apartment rented and paid for, car rented and paid for, so it is a .... GO!!!

Once Again, in closing, here’s a shameless plug for 2 guys who spend all their time trying to help improve the lot of others:

Dr. Anthony G. Payne and Larry M. Howard have coauthored a just released book that I would recommend to all, with or without multiple sclerosis, and especially women concerned about osteoporosis: "Health Benefits of Vitamin K2", ISBN # 978-1-59120-184-7. It is available at www.basichealthpub.com, Basic Health Publications, Inc. and also from Larry Howard’s company, Weller Health Vitamins www.wellerhealthvitamins.com It is also being sold through Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, WalMart, Swanson Health Products and a host of others. It is actually the only book on K2 for laypeople on the market! And at $9.95 retail – packed as it is with all kinds of dietary and health goodies -- it’s a bargain.
and of course, my book - below.....

Blessings always, and best wishes for a healthy life to all,
Have a Blessed and Joyous Christmas season and a Prosperous and healthy New Year
